First full album in five and a half years by Anyango, the world's first female player of the traditional Kenyan stringed instrument, Nyatiti. In the midst of the turmoil of the global pandemic, I think about the 'mom' and 'siblings' who live in Allego, a small village on the shores of Lake Victoria in Western Kenya, which is Anyango's second hometown, and includes songs created from the state they reached by thoroughly facing music during their stay-home period, such as the joy of being alive, the preciousness of standing up supple over and over no matter how difficult things are, and the fear of life surrounding them.
