I bought it for crafting and was unsure if the plastic casing (which looks thin) would melt, but to my surprise, it's quite good. The plastic heats up, but it doesn't smell bad, doesn't melt, and there's no discomfort when holding it. The temperature suited me (for example, it handled gluing 2 fabrics together using a fusible interfacing that needs to be heated, perfectly).
The iron is very good, especially for children's things. It irons well, and heats up well too. You can turn it off at any time without unplugging it from the socket - there is an off button. I recommend it
