An unusual trapezoidal enclosure made of double-sided veneered MDF is the result of precise measurements, and the chosen shape has its justification. It maximizes stiffness and resistance to resonances while minimizing parallel surfaces. It is the surfaces oriented in parallel that cause the formation of standing waves inside the speakers. If a sound wave propagates between them, it reflects off the walls like an image in a mirror, and an undesirable superposition occurs - a phenomenon in which a new sound wave meets the original one that has just reflected on its path in the same place. In such cases, some frequencies begin to strengthen, others weaken, and undesirable distortions appear. In such cases, the sound is often unpleasant, lacking dimension and detail. Through the shape of the Labrador 38 enclosure, the effect of parallel surfaces has been minimized.
Additionally, the lower part of the casing contains a sand-filled chamber, which is closed at the top by an inclined plate.. It simultaneously serves as a reinforcement of the casing and creates another non-parallel wall in the internal space.
Thanks to their design and shape, the speakers can be placed in any interior, against the walls or alternatively in a corner. Labrador 38 can be used as the main speaker in a medium and large room, bedroom, study, or as the front speaker in home theater systems. In all applications, the trapezoidal shape of the enclosure is advantageous, resulting in a precise, harmonious sound with a solid bass foundation, fine details, and three-dimensional space.
The mid-bass speakers come from the renowned Danish manufacturer Scan-Speak. The use of Scan-Speak speakers in this price range makes the Labrador 38 one of the top speakers with an excellent price-to-quality ratio. The tweeter with a 1" textile dome and ferrofluid cooling then comes from the sister company Vifa, also from Denmark.
The connection terminals allow for Bi-Wiring or Bi-Amping. All internal connections are soldered.
