The "Joint Translation of the Bible," a new translation aiming to become the next standard Japanese Bible translation, was published in December 2018 after approximately nine years of translation work. Following the 1987 New Interconfessional Translation, this new translation is also a joint project supported and cooperated with Catholic and Protestant churches. It incorporates research findings from the United Bible Societies (UBS), the world's largest Bible translation network, and was translated by outstanding Bible scholars and Japanese language specialists in Japan.
