[The inspiration for creating large-print boldface books] My mother was hard of hearing and didn't watch TV, but she loved reading, had a sharp mind, and was far from dementia. But one day, she was no longer able to read the fine Ming font, and she stopped reading and spent her days staring blankly. Worried about developing dementia, she tried magnifying glasses and glasses, but they didn't work, and she refused to read large-print books with fine print.
