TOMIX N Gauge JR HC85 Series Hybrid Train Nanki Set 98556 Model Train

The HC85 series is a hybrid train that was announced in 2019 as a replacement for the Hida and Nanki limited express trains, which currently operate using the Kiha 85 series, and has begun test runs. This series employs a hybrid system that reduces environmental impact by powering the motor with electricity generated by the engine and stored in a battery. Mass-production cars will be released in 2022, with the Hida limited express train entering service in July 2022 and the Nanki limited express train in July 2023. Like the Kiha 85 series, which ended regular service on the Hida in March 2023 and the Nanki in July 2023, this series can be flexibly configured to suit operations, from a minimum of two cars to a maximum of 10 cars.

This is a newly produced reproduction of the mass-production HC85 series hybrid train. The JR mark, no-smoking mark, and car number are pre-printed. The "HYBRID" logo is pre-printed on the side of the car body. Uses a color sheet. Reproduces the green side glass. A separate part is included for the front of the lead car to recreate the appearance of the connecting door being open. The car number can be changed using the transfer sheet included with each set of part numbers 98557 and 98558. The head and tail lights are equipped with a constant-on circuit board and an ON-OFF switch. The head and tail lights are illuminated by white LEDs. The lead car's driver's cab side is equipped with a TN coupler (SP) only. Uses a flywheel-equipped power unit. Uses a new current collection system and silver wheels. Uses an M-13 motor.
