1/700 Imperial Japanese Navy First-Class Cruiser Tokiwa

Product Introduction

The Tokiwa was the second ship of the Asama-class cruisers, designed by Sir Philip Watts, who also designed the Dreadnought. Completed on May 18, 1899 (Meiji 32). During the Russo-Japanese War, it formed the 2nd Squadron, the main force of the 2nd Fleet, along with five other first-class cruisers, and participated in major naval battles. During World War I, it formed the 4th Fleet with the Yakumo and Iwate, and deployed to Qingdao, the Pacific, and the American theater. After the war, it was temporarily used as a training ship for long-distance voyages. In 1922 (Taisho 11), as a replacement for the aging minelayer Tsugaru, its armament, including the stern 20cm twin guns and six 15cm single guns, was removed, and it was converted into a minelayer carrying 500 Type 5 mines.
