Kato Mokko's "bent wood" technique involves gluing two sheets of plywood together into a round shape. This rare technique, which is disappearing in Japan, was first developed and manufactured in November 2008. The frame reveals its multi-layered appearance from the front, while the exterior reveals the beautiful, subdued grain of the shina.
