At the age of 16, Yamabe Yukiko was in Manchuria when Japan lost the war, and amid the chaos, she began working as a nurse for the People's Liberation Army. After returning to Japan, she continued to interact with China, and to this day, at the age of 87, she continues to pursue Japan's and her own war responsibility. The author, deeply impressed by Yamabe's work, traces her footsteps through interviews with her and those involved, as well as documents from that time.
