Kukicha Green Tea ORGANIC 60 g - Moya Matcha Kukicha Green Tea ORGANIC 60 g - Moya Matcha INGREDIENTS Kukicha Green Tea 100%* (*certified organic ingredient) DESCRIPTION Kukicha is a green tea composed entirely of twigs and leaf stems – those parts of the tea bushes that are not found in other teas. Hence its name: "kuki" means stem or stick in Japanese. Kukicha is created during the production of other green teas, when the leaf blades are separated from the rest of the tea. This makes its flavor distinctly different: more delicate, sweeter, and slightly nutty. Thanks to its negligible caffeine content, kukicha is perfect for children, pregnant women, and late-night drinking. For this reason, along with hojicha, it is often recommended as a tea in a macrobiotic diet. Kukicha also has a high content of relaxing theanine. Theanine in the leaves is converted into tannins during photosynthesis, which give the tea a "bitter" aftertaste. Because photosynthesis does not occur in the stems, they naturally have a high theanine content. Moya Kukicha is the highest quality kukicha, created during the matcha production process, when the leaves and stems are separated from the aracha (tea leaf blades – a matcha intermediate). Unlike regular kukicha, it is roasted very gently (for a much shorter time than hojicha). This gives it a stronger aroma and a darker yellow-brown color.
