This is a universal aftermarket regulator for the Yamaha Drag Star 400. A regulator has two functions: rectifying electricity and controlling the voltage to a constant level. It is a heat-sensitive component, so it is cooled by fins to dissipate heat. If it is installed in a place where it is not exposed to airflow, heat cannot be dissipated, heat will build up, and it may deteriorate and break down.
When it breaks, voltage control becomes impossible, leading to problems such as undercharging or excessive voltage. If you experience symptoms such as inability to charge properly, headlight bulbs burning out easily, rapid deterioration and frequent failures, starter motor failure or strange odors in open-type batteries, or the normal lifespan being reached, there is a possibility that the regulator is malfunctioning.
