This is an animated film adaptation of the famous original work by Shotaro Ishinomori. Nine cyborgs take on the monster Prechiosaurus, which destroys cities with ultrasonic waves.

The film is structured like a collage, gathering fragments of situations from Ishinomori's original work. However, there are many depictions that differ from the original, such as 008 spitting water to attack enemies, a character that should be 0010 becoming 0011, and 004's knife emerging from his right hand. Fans who ador the original will likely frown upon these depictions. However, the fact that all evil deeds are attributed to the "Black Ghost" and that the important line from the original, "As long as there is hatred and war in the world, I will be resurrected again and again," is retained is even moving.

The scene of the Prechiosaurus attacking the city has a special effects movie feel to it. Also, the fact that Judy Ongg voices 003/Françoise really gives it a sense of the era. (Morihiko Saito)
