“[Inden]” is a traditional Japanese craft with a history of over 400 years in Koshu (Yamanashi), involving applying lacquer designs to deerskin. These leather products are made from processed deerskin, and are characterized by being dyed after tanning, then decorated with patterns using lacquer, rather than simply using tanned hide. Deerskin is softer than cowhide, has fine wrinkles called “shibo” on the surface, and has been prized since ancient times for being durable, lightweight, and conforming to the body.
・The pattern is applied to natural deerskin with lacquer.
