Tenugui Mushin Scarf Kendo Towel Navy Blue Made in Japan

The traditional Tenugui (Japanese towel) can be used in Kendo, Nippon Kempo, or Jukendo, as well as a small towel for wiping sweat during training.

At its center is the Japanese lettering "Mushin," which has important meaning in any martial art, but is particularly well known by Kendoka.

Mushin (無心) is a state of mind often translated into English as "no mind," but this translation does not capture the deeper meaning of the phrase. Mushin is a state of mind free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego.

This does not mean that there are no thoughts, but these thoughts are perfectly focused on the task at hand and free from emotions that could influence judgment. This state is often experienced by practitioners during intense training or Shiai (competition), and the ultimate goal of every Budoka is to maintain this state of mind at all times.

Please hand wash in cold water before first use.

Traditional "Honzome" dyeing, meaning the dye penetrates deeply into the fibers, resulting in well-fixed color.
