What is ETRTO size and why should you care?

ETRTO size is a standard way of designating tire size, developed by the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization. It allows you to easily check if the new tire will fit your bike.

ETRTO is saved in a format similar to a postal code – for example: 40-622. What do these numbers mean?

• 40 mm – is the tire width,

• 622 mm – is the tire's inner diameter, i.e. the size of the rim the tire must fit.

Note! The diameter (second number) must match your current tire – this cannot be changed. However, the width (first number) may be different - you can choose a narrower or wider tire, as long as it fits the bike frame.

To be sure you're buying the right tire, look for the ETRTO marking on your current tire and choose a new one based on the same code (at least the second number).

This is the simplest and safest way to fit a tire to your bike.
