2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The "Mutsuki" class is a destroyer that was planned to be the same type as the previous "Kamikaze" class, and was completed as a ship equipped with a 61cm torpedo tube to improve its torpedo attack capability. The double curved bow on the bow and enlarged flare improve sea-survival performance, and all launch tubes are equipped with backup torpedoes. Many improvements have been made, including expanding the fixed side plates of the bridge, adding shields to the launch tubes, extending the tops of the front and rear chimneys, and equipping them with caps. However, these improvements led to an increase in the overall displacement of the ship, raising the center of gravity, which reduced the ship's speed. Furthermore, due to the occurrence of the Tomozuru Incident and the 4th Fleet Incident, performance improvement work was carried out. Efforts were made to reduce the weight by changing the shape of the bridge's bulwark, shortening the short boat decks on both sides of the bridge, and removing the 6m starboard passage, but as a search room had to be added and the anti-aircraft armament had to be strengthened at the same time, dramatic weight reductions were not achieved. Yayoi was completed on August 28, 1920 as the third Mutsuki-class ship. At the beginning of the war, she was a ship of the 30th Destroyer Squadron, 6th Torpedo Squadron, 4th Fleet, and was active in the capture of Wake Island, Rabaul, and Bougainville Island, but on September 11, 1945, she was attacked by US military aircraft off the coast of New Guinea and sunk. The kit reproduces the 1941 appearance, with the torpedo tube equipped with a mantlet. One special submarine target is also included. (From Amazon.co.jp)
