The word Piercing comes from the English "to pierce". The navel piercing (also referred to as a belly button piercing) is a piercing made on the edge of the navel. The navel piercing is nowadays mostly worn by women. Lip piercings can be placed anywhere around the mouth, but the surface of the lip is usually not pierced on its own, except for horizontal lip piercings.
