Dennis Bovell has had a prolific and eclectic career covering a wide range of music genres, from dub poetry to lovers rock, post-punk, disco, and pop. This new compilation takes a deep dive into deep cuts and lesser-known versions, focusing mainly on the period from 1976 to 1980 when Beauvell was involved with the Ja Safer Sound System and immediately after. In particular, a wonderful unreleased dub version of the famous song “Silly Games” (Janet Kay), which symbolizes lover's rock, has also been recorded. These decades-old tracks, which have been painstakingly restored and remastered at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin, will have a clear and dynamic sound, and will take listeners into the world of Beauvell's genius production and arrangement power.
The production of this album started when Dennis Bovell visited General Echo Reggae Disco in Walthamstow, London in 2018. A project to unearth his valuable sound sources was launched from interaction with the people he met there. After many years of searching for records, selecting songs, and overcoming difficulties such as the pandemic, this album “Disseminer Sounds” was finally completed. It is a work that condenses Dennis Bovell's passion for music and his excellent mixing techniques. In particular, Dennis Bovell's unique sound creation stands out on this album. It can be said that it is a work where his talents, such as his harmonies, melodies, and how to use effects, were demonstrated without regret.
The liner notes attached to this album were written based on a lengthy interview with Dennis. He shared his memories and interesting episodes for each song about the events during the production of this album. Different artwork is used in the record version and CD version, and creative photographs by Sid Shelton are used in both.
