Methylation is a vital process that occurs in the body and is involved in many essential biochemical processes, including gene expression and the breakdown of homocysteine. More than 50% of the population has a mutation in the MTHFR gene, which can slow down the rate of methylation in the body. And when the methylation cycle is delayed, homocysteine levels can be high.
