How to Use: Rainbow Henna can be applied to wet or dry hair, but make sure your hair is clean and free of hairspray, gel, conditioner, etc. If you have already shampooed your hair, towel dry your hair before applying. Place the Rainbow Henna Powder in a glass or plastic bowl. Use enough powder to cover the area you are applying. *Do not use metal bowls or utensils. *The amount of henna powder will vary depending on the length and texture of your hair. Here are the approximate amounts you’ll need per application: Short hair (above ears) 50-75 g (4+ tablespoons) Medium length (shoulders) 75-100 g (8 tablespoons) Full length (below waist) 100-150 g (whole bottle +) Hip/waist length 150-200 g (1-2 bottles) Bring 8-16 oz of liquid (water, coffee, tea) to a boil. Slowly pour in the liquid, mixing thoroughly with a wooden or plastic spoon until it has a creamy yogurt-like consistency. You may not be able to use all of the liquid. If the mixture is too thick or thickens while you apply it, you can add more. Directions for use: Henna will not generally stain skin or scalp, but wear plastic or rubber gloves to avoid staining your hands. Henna is heat-activated, so it’s best to apply it immediately after mixing. Section off the hair. The sections should be about 1 inch in size. Once the henna mixture has reached a safe temperature, apply the henna starting from the scalp and working from the roots to the ends of the hair using a brush, applicator bottle, or your hands. Continue applying until the hair is thickly coated with the henna mixture. Place a cotton or tissue band around the hairline (optional). Cover your hair with a shower cap, plastic bag, or plastic wrap to keep the henna in your hair. Wrap a towel in a turban style to retain the heat. Time It is best to use a salon dome dryer, heat lamp, or thermo heat cap. Neutral - Heat for 30-45 minutes, then leave on for 45-60 minutes without heating. When the time is up, rinse thoroughly with warm water and rinse again with cold water. Follow with Rainbow Henna Shampoo and Conditioner. Rinse thoroughly and style. Hair must be completely dry to see the finished results. Do not use hair products containing essential oils when dyeing your hair with henna. Dry hair: Add 1 egg, 2-4 tablespoons of olive oil, or 2-4 tablespoons of plain yogurt to the henna mixture. Choose only one of the options. These natural ingredients will help condition your hair, as well as aid in the application and rinsing process. Neutral henna: Use as a conditioner to add volume and shine to your hair. Neutral or 'clear' henna will not stain. Mix with boiling water to desired consistency and apply to hair as you would with hair dye.
