This full-hull "Imperial Navy Light Cruiser Sakawa" comes with etched parts! The light cruiser Sakawa was the fourth Agano-class ship. Construction began at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal in November 1942 and was completed in November 1944, towards the end of the war. The Agano-class was designed as a torpedo squadron flagship, distinguishing it from the 5,500-ton class by its modern appearance and armament. Its main battery consisted of three 15cm twin guns and two newly developed 8cm twin anti-aircraft guns. Sakawa was completed the month after the Battle of Leyte Gulf, leaving the Combined Fleet unable to carry out organized operations. It was transferred from Sasebo to Kure and engaged in training in the western Inland Sea, but saw no opportunity for action. It was then sent to Maizuru the month before the end of the war, where it remained until the end of the war. After the war, it served overseas as a repatriation transport ship, and in July 1946, it was used as a nuclear bomb test ship at Bikini Atoll before sinking. This model features a full hull, even down to the bottom, and includes a display stand for easy display. The model recreates the ship's appearance with Type 21, 22, and 13 radars, as equipped at the time of completion. The 25mm twin machine guns are available in both the traditional one-piece construction and more precise two-piece construction. The two-piece construction allows for easy painting of the gunmetal barrel and the base in the ship's hull color. The kit includes photo-etched parts, allowing for detailed reproduction that is difficult to achieve with injection parts. Each photo-etched part comes in one piece. Each part measures 96mm x 187mm and includes over 150 different parts, including a ladder, floatplane hoisting and storage crane, Type 13 and 21 radars, and a catapult. This product is made in Japan.
