This piece is carved by combining the traditional Edo Kiriko patterns "Yarai" and "Nanako". "Yarai" is the name given to the shape of bamboo or logs intertwined in a staggered pattern. Yarai fences are used in the earliest stages of castle construction and stage set design, and therefore have the meaning of "building the foundation of something" and "solidifying the base". "Nanako" refers to fish scales, which have the connotation of "large numbers", and by extension, represent "fertility" and "abundance". Both are very auspicious traditional patterns that have been loved since ancient times. The "four-leaf clover" is a symbol of good fortune, love, sincerity, and hope, and is said to be very auspicious, making it a great gift or souvenir to take overseas.
Edo Kiriko began in the Edo period and has been designated a traditional Japanese craft as a precious art that conveys the life of Edo to the present day. All pieces are handmade one by one by skilled craftsmen.
As all our products are hand-blown glass, there may be slight variations in size and color, and small air bubbles may remain, but this does not affect the quality.
