[Etchu Sansukeyaki Pottery] Etchu Sansukeyaki Pottery has been producing pottery for 150 years in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, a city known for its tulips and scattered settlements. Located in a quiet rural area, the pottery is made using locally sourced soil and glazes made from the plants and trees that grow in this area.
[Features] We use soil extracted from this blessed land, create glazes from the plants and trees that grow on this land, and carry out all processes by hand. The pale, deep green glaze that has been passed down for generations is particularly distinctive.
[History] The Fukuyama Hills area in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, where the Etchu Sansuke ware kiln is located, is blessed with abundant clay, and has been the site of the manufacture of household items and roof tiles since the Nara and Heian periods, starting with Sue ware. One of these tile manufacturers, Taniguchi Sansuke (1858-1905), and his eldest son, Taniguchi Taishichirou (1874-1933), began producing pots, bowls, plates, and other household items in the tile kiln, laying the foundation for Sansuke ware.
[Perfect Gift] Recommended as a gift! Perfect for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and many other occasions. Also makes a great souvenir for overseas visitors.
