There is a small hole in each pipe as shown in the picture, this is a useful hole we need for the good functioning of this system. If the hose is lower than the pump, the pressure on the pump side will be higher than the pressure on the hose side. Without this hole, water will flow from the bucket to the end hose when the pump stops working due to the difference in air pressure.
