Memories of Shugoro Yamamoto: A Literary Giant Who Loved the Light and Shadow of Yokohama

After the war, Yamamoto Shugoro moved to Honmoku, Yokohama, where he continued his creative activities. He loved the atmosphere of the seaside town of Honmoku and is said to have said, "I don't want to live anywhere else." This exhibition traces Shugoro's profile and footsteps in Honmoku through the stories and photographs of people who knew him at the time. We visit the locations that served as the settings for six of Shugoro's most famous works and explore their appeal. We discuss Shugoro's love for humanity hidden in his works.
