Woody Joe 1/150 Hikone Castle Wooden Model Assembly Kit
Following his victory at the Battle of Sekigahara, Tokugawa Ieyasu confiscated Ishida Mitsunari's 180,000 koku fief in Omi and awarded it to Ii Naomasa, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Tokugawa clan.
Mitsunari's Sawayama Castle was demolished, and Naotsugu, who inherited the family headship from Naomasa in 1622, built Hikone Castle on Mount Konki.
Completed over a period of approximately 20 years, Hikone Castle is one of the five remaining National Treasure castle towers.
Although the castle tower is small, with three tiers, three floors, and one basement, it features a double-gable watchtower on the first floor, creating a stable appearance.
From a plan view, the castle's slender rectangular exterior is nearly twice as long on the north-south side as on the east-west side, creating a completely different impression depending on the viewing angle.
