Despite its slim design, just 23mm in length, the newly designed lens barrel is designed with thorough attention to operability, with features such as a focusing lever with a recess that fits comfortably under the fingers and an aperture ring with a good click feeling, ensuring a solid feel when operating the lens. The all-metal helicoid unit is machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that generates just the right amount of torque ensures smooth focusing, allowing for subtle focus adjustments. The lens mount is a VM mount compatible with the Leica M mount, which is ideal for use with rangefinder cameras, and also offers excellent design balance when attached to mirrorless digital cameras via a mount adapter. The high-precision rangefinder linkage mechanism enables accurate focusing even with a large depth of field. It has a generous image circle that is compatible with full-frame 35mm cameras, and is extremely compact compared to interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras.
