Paper Mario and his unique friends embark on a great adventure. [Story] After receiving a letter from Princess Peach asking for help with a treasure hunt, Mario arrives in Thug Town. However, Princess Peach is nowhere to be found. Searching for clues about Princess Peach, Mario visits Professor Frankly, a treasure researcher in town. He learns that the "1000-Year Door" leads to the treasure, and that seven "Star Stones" are needed to open it. Believing that following the treasure will lead to Princess Peach, Mario sets out on an adventure through the paper world in search of the Star Stones, accompanied by Christine, whom he meets in town. It seems that not only Mario, but Bowser is also searching for Princess Peach... [The adventure takes place in a paper world full of encounters and surprises] As he visits, he encounters a giant dragon, residents suddenly turn into pigs, train accidents, and many other unexpected events. At first glance, Mario may come across places that seem impossible to proceed through, but he uses his thin body to get into narrow gaps, transforms into a paper airplane and flies through the sky, and uses actions that are unique to paper to open up a path forward.
[Unusual Friends] Mario meets some unusual characters along the way. They'll become his allies and help him on his adventure with their various abilities and personalities, including Christine, who can tell him information about the people, places, and enemies around him; Nokotaro, who's good at diving into shells and ramming into enemies; and Clouda, who can create strong winds to blow away nearby objects. [Crazy Theater Battle] When Mario bumps into an enemy on the field, a turn-based command battle will begin in the theater! Mario can choose from a variety of actions, including attacks, items, special moves, defense, and audience appeals, depending on his strategy. Pressing buttons at the right time to time an attack will increase damage to the enemy, and the audience will join in, making the battle even more exciting.
