Hanasumire Series... Japan is home to a diverse range of violets and is considered one of the world's leading violet kingdoms. There are many enthusiasts, and numerous clubs and research groups exist. We commissioned the "Japan Violet Research Society," established in 1973, to select and supervise the flower species to create this lovely cup and saucer. The teacup, with its flared rim resembling a blooming flower, can also be enjoyed as a sherbet cup. The saucer is printed with the series name and flower name. 'Variegated Genji Violet': It is said that this name was given because the purple underside of the leaves evokes the image of Murasaki Shikibu. It is a lovely violet with deep bluish-purple flowers.
