[Product Description]
• ✅【What is Chiran Tea from Kagoshima?】Chiran Tea is a type of tea produced in Minamikyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Originally, it was called "Eiga Tea," "Kawabe Tea," and "Chiran Tea" depending on the region, but now it is unified under the name Chiran Tea. Our Kagoshima Chiran Tea is made from carefully selected tea leaves using the "Kabuse Method." It features a strong sweetness and mellow flavor, making it easy to drink even for those who are not fond of green tea or beginners of Japanese tea. There are also many varieties, and the characteristics of Chiran Tea can vary depending on where and by which producer it is grown.
• ✅【Umami of Deep Steamed Tea】Our Chiran Tea is a rare "Deep Steamed" type, produced by steaming the tea leaves for a long period of time. Compared to regular Chiran Tea, it is steamed 2 to 3 times longer, which softens the leaves and enhances the extraction of sweetness and umami. Each year, we visit the production sites to select only high-quality deep steamed teas, conduct strict tastings, and produce our own refined product. This results in a mellow, rich, and flavorful Kagoshima Chiran Deep Steamed Tea. It is delicious brewed in a teapot but also tastes great cold brewed.
• ✅【Carefully Selected from a Variety of Cultivars】While Chiran Tea includes many cultivars, our garden carefully selects "Yutaka Midori" and "Saemidori" for their superior taste, sweetness, and drinkability. We use the "Kabuse Method" on these selected cultivars to produce our tea leaves. Please enjoy the distinctive qualities of these carefully chosen varieties.
• ✅【Recommended Ways to Enjoy Chiran Tea 1 (Hot Water Method)】 ① Pour hot water (around 90°C) into a teacup or mug to warm it and to let it cool slightly. ② Place 5g of tea leaves (about two level teaspoons) into a teapot. ③ Steep for about 35 to 45 seconds while gently swirling the teapot. Using our Chiran Tea, swirling during steeping enhances the rich umami flavor. ④ Pour the tea, ensuring even extraction.
• ✅【Recommended Ways to Enjoy Chiran Tea 2 (Cold Brew Method)】 ⑤ For a stronger flavor, pour repeatedly without pouring all at once, ensuring the last drop is fully extracted. The last drop, called "Golden Drop," contains the most concentrated flavor and umami. This is the basic method for brewing tea. Note that optimal temperature and steeping time may vary depending on the cultivar and packaging. When cold brewing, using ice water can intensify sweetness and reduce caffeine content.
