Constructed atop Mt. Gagyuzan at an elevation of 430 meters, it is one of Japan's three great mountain castles and the only mountain castle with a surviving keep.
The keep structure is a two-story, two-story, composite watchtower-style structure built in 1240 (the first year of the Ninji era). It was expanded as the castle's lord changed hands, and repairs began in 1681 (the first year of the Tenwa era) over a three-year period, with the current castle walls being constructed around this time.
The model faithfully reproduces the complex roof shape, making extensive use of roof templates, and the karahafu roof features an easy-to-construct laminated structure.
The lattice windows are precision laser-cut to further enhance the level of perfection.
The stone walls are made from loose Jindai tamo ash, and are glued and stacked using the pattern on the backing as a reference.
This product is a wooden model that requires assembly.
Separate adhesives, tools, paint, etc. are required for assembly and painting.
